Design Ideas
1) Current UP Has to many Constraints for Fluid in-class use.
- Student needs a Tablet PC -or- a Laptop with a mouse
- Professor needs to be able to input annotations while they are Lecturing
- Student needs to keep in mind there current Notes while they Input
annotations
Need to make it easy to add annotation and input to the system in an in-class
enviroment with out buying additional systems.
2) Asking Questions in Class is hindered a great deal by students who do not want
to be wrong in a high pressure seeting like lecture.
- Need an easy way for students to ask questions about lecture material without
feeling singled out
- Student also cannot ask questions of fellow student easily during a lecture.
- Current discussion with Teachers is done with email and office hours but most of
the information is retroactively referenced from lecture.
Needs to be an easier wayto reference material as is it presented in lecture. This needs
to be much more dynamic than a simple discussion board.
3) Simply Giving notes from one student to another is not always useful because it is just
a large bulk of information.
- There needs to be Explinations of some terms or further explination.
- Data needs to be searched through quick for clarification and interest
Use a UP style set up that is Highly searchable for student notes. This also works well
for Teacher notes.
4) With so much information fro all students how to you begin to find wha you need to know?
- Systems like read-wear offers a good way to read the traffic from other users on the site
- Also Possible to implement a tagging system kind of like digg.
Because there is so much data, there needs to be a way to moniter the important information
with out having to re-read everything.
