When studying Biodiversity class, there is no website or online material. Without lecture notes online, students must quickly write everything down, making it difficult to pay attention to lecture and think about what the professor means.
Does not use online tools in group study sessions.
" I get more value from (memory retention) from personal communication, eye-contact, and hand writing notes, which is not as fast as typing but better for studying.
- Plus paper gives more freedom to organize thoughts. I like using stars, arrows, charts, diagrams in my notes to remember key concepts.
I dont waste my time with TAs discussion sections unless I did the reading and come prepared with my own questions. i doesn't help to hear other students questions answered if im not there yet.
It was very helpful to explain the midterm questions to my friend who didn't study, 15 minutes before the test, bcause it allowed me organize my thought into the way it was going to be on the test.
