User 3 sequence model

Page history last edited by andrew 2 yrs ago

this is copied directly from my interpretation notes elsewhere on the wiki.

we may have made an actual sequnce model in a meeting, which should be posted... but this has everything here, just needs to be formulated correctly.

Begins studying:

-Specifies a section in his notebook at end of class notes titled Midterm Review

-mentions: writing helps him to learn.

-his hand writing of info is a critical part of studying

-looks for reveiw content online such as studyguide.

       "I''m looking for anything"

explains that samples would be easier for prepare and specify what to study.

The prof has explained that it will be a lot like homework, but thats very braod, cuz means he must study everything

-when no content is found he begins by opening the first reading which he explains by saying that the prof spent a long time on this particular reading

he says he is looking for "things he doesn remember"

-He goes through PDF very fast scanning only the summaries and examples which are boxed

he says "going straight through the text is not effective"

He finds a figure which he recognizes from lecture and he reads the explanation under it.

-He writes just a small amount down in his midterm reveiw section of his notebook.

-Now he wants to find the cooresponding material as is covered in the slides.

each batch of slides has a date as a heading and a list of what is covered within.

the lists of covered material is broad and user does not see what he wants to find in any of the lists

-He opens the first batch of slides because he knows that what hes looking for was covered early in the quarter.

-He scrolls all the way through to the bottom very fast and does not see anything relevant to what he wants.

-Opens second batch and scrolls down a bit till he finds the place where the material is covered.

He mentions that going over the slides a second time he has a new helpful awareness of what is important based on what was taught subsequently.

He notes that there are some slides which he does not recognize. The teacher skips around and does not get to eveyrything.

-He looks at slides and reads them, making some minimal notes in his notebook, some slides coppied word for word.

-he continues through the content of the slides taking notes.

-He gets to a particular slide which refers to a specific reading, and uses a word from it user does not recognize.

-He goes to reading and attempts to run a search for that specific word.

because the readings are scanned they cannot be searched.

-rather than try to scan throgh the 40 page document himself, he runs a google search to try to find the reading in a searchable form.

-takes him a bit of time, but finds it, searches and reads a bit, noting the definition in his notebook in his own words.
